- As a songwriter, Scott (at age 23) was already writing for major music publisher Chappell Music, with his song recorded/covered by world-class artists such as The Righteous Brothers and Crystal Gayle.
He is also a longtime, well-respected blues pianist & vocalist (multi-instrumentalist), having performed live/in-studio with/or for the likes of Spencer Davis, producer Marc Tanner-Eddie Money/Madonna, Ray Manzarek-The Doors, renowned Nashville artists/sessionist/songwriters pianist John Barlow Jarvis & (high school friend) multi-instrumentalist John Jorgenson of the Hellicasters/Elton John Band/Tom Scott, soprano sax-ist Thadeus Richard-Wings, drummer Jack Bruno-Tina Turner/Elton John Band, sax-ist Scott Page-Pink Floyd, Castillo & Garibaldi-Tower of Power, guitarist Roland Bautista-Earth, Wind and Fire, as well as metal friends guitarist Doug Aldrich/Lion-WhiteSnake, bassist Jerry Best-Lion/Dio, drummer Jimmy DeGrasso-Ozzy/Alice Cooper/Megadeth, drummer & bandmate Steve Riley-L.A. - Biography
- Born in LA, Scott was drawn to music upon watching the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show at age eight in 1964.
Ten years later, he would become a gifted multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, developing a passion for songwriting, closely studying the craft of his favorites.
Mentored in the mid-70's by prominent songwriters, Maury Manseau, John Bettis, and hit singer/songwriter Alan O' Day, Scott was encouraged to
move (from San Diego State film school) back to his native L.A., becoming a young successful songwriter, with songs recorded by multi-platinum artists before he turned twenty-four. He would then collaborate with hit songwriter Sharon Sheeley (Eddie Cochran's girlfriend/fiance) from the late seventies through the eighties. During this period, Scott would become a highly regarded session vocalist & multi-instrumentalist, and touring musician until his thirties.
Having become a proficient recording engineer after well over a decade in music studios (also an audio editor with TV host Jenny Jones, & recordist for singer/dancer Gene Kelly) and facing the welcome reality of a blossoming family, Scott began his thirties by taking the studio home, expanding his creativity into composing film scores, music directing parodies for KLOS's Mark & Brian, producing solo artists as Rosie Vela of A&M Records (formerly produced by Steeley Dan's Gary Katz), and composing original music for theatrical performances at The Comedy Store, The Hollywood Playhouse, The LA Cabaret, and Hollywood award shows.
Responding to the ever-increasing need for income, Scott concurrently worked for 15 years for the major Hollywood studios as a union Art Director, Construction Coordinator, & Special Effects Tech & Pyrotechnician, yet remaining very active in music production, until...
In july, 2005, Scott would severely fracture his spine while working on HBO's "Deadwood", resulting in multiple multi-level spinal fusions, the final of which was completed in December of 2009.
Fortunately, Scott's legs no longer collapse on him, but he has since been very happily re-directed back to his love for music, full time!
Scotts wife of 25 years (Elaine) worked as asst. to A & R Director John David Kalodner (Kalodner:Kalodner) at Atlantic & Geffen Records for 19 years during the Foreigner, AC/DC, Phil Collins, Survivor, Aerosmith, John Lennon, Whitesnake, Elton John, Cher, Asia, Slayer, Berlin, Sammy Hagar, & Nelson days (80's to 90's, earning some nine gold & platinum albums), and is currently in A & R for Disney's Hollywood Records, working on Miley Cyrus & Jonas Bros. projects, to name a few…
Activities and Societies:
Former member of IATSE's Art Director's Guild, and I.A.T.S.E. Local 44 Construction Coordinator's Association (w/ Pyrotechnics card & 35 year NAUI Scuba cert.) for the major Hollywood studios.
A.A. Degreed in Radio & Television production, transferring to film school at San Diego State.
S.A.G. eligible & former AFTRA member.
