lazy bastards, you should always tell them how they should do their work :) In my case / AKM (cooperates with ASCAP, BMI and others) but same here, you always got to tell them things you're not able to know. Hope one day things will change :)

ASCAP and try BMI?

they're lazy, especially in my case (foreign country) (AKM is a partner of ASCAP (do the same thing all over the world in cooperation with the others) but they are the same punch of idiots :) You always have to tell them what they suppose to do :)

A update on ASCAP ... Seems I have to start doing their job in a way. I have to report to them, when I hear my work on radio, net radio on in use, else they do not show and play of my material ... imagine that.
I got a email back when I asked, how come ...? I was told, send them the info of the times, play and so on. Also make sure it is registered.
All my work I release for public is listed at ASCAP. I do that before I let it out. Check the ASCAP data base.
I am wondering, maybe I should end ASCAP and try BMI?

Hi Rena,

This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
As of yet, I don´t have any tracks in video games, but this is good to know for the future. I´m not currently with ASCAP. I was with GEMA (which is in Germany, and connected with ASCAP in the USA) but I quit GEMA after 10 years in 2003, because they wanted money from me for posting my own songs on music sites. I would have had to pay them thousands of Euros for my own songs. lol I found that to be a bit ridiculous, so I quit them. When I do land a project that will pay royalties, I will definitely go right to ASCAP. I may be living in Germany, but I´m a U.S. citizen, so it won´t be a problem. I´m just wondering if I´ll have to pay double taxes on royalties to the IRS, and to the German Tax Office?
Hope not. :) lol

Just thought some of you should know that ASCAP now allows royalties for video games.... You may want to double check your contracts with the games you have composed for.

These royalties are small and you have to write ASCAP directly about these royalties to make sure they will offer them to you.

Most games wont even have royalties but for some games, they may get radio play, internet play and even played in some clubs or venues.
