This is a group for all members interested in being a part of the Independent Media Pros promotional film project. Please don't hesitate to share any ideas you may have.

Description of project

In order to build a sense of community and showcase our member's talents we are considering producing a short (10 min or so) film/reel that showcases each member's strengths. We would like to ask any who would like to participate to come forward and let us know what you do best in the audio world. We are looking for your best film-suited music, music video clips or clips from live performances, someone to act as coordinator/director, a team to develop the project, contributers for sound design, and a video editor. Once it is finished we will place it on the home page and you will be able to upload it anywhere you'd like as a demo reel for your services. Everyone will get full credit for their part.

They're all public domain.
I suggest something dealing with "war" or "famine" or the usual "dark" subjects.
However, personally, I always like the effect of having very dark/somber music on top of video that's exactly the opposite....especially old government videos where they just can't seem to do anything but hide the truth from the public and pretend like everything's OK....
...for example: that great classic "duck and cover" video...

Parts of that laid in with very dark moody music might be worth trying.

Comment by Dan Tharp on December 19, 2009 at 3:52pm: I think it would be good to find some older war or government propaganda video footage (ripping out the audio if there is any) and putting in the music we have that's darker.
War/government is always good "dark" fodder! :)

And yes, we are going to do a second project soon. It will be much more "composer" oriented, i.e. we will be collaborating to develop the video and write an original score together.
