As a point of reference http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0001877/

It's funny, I never really gave him much attention other than when he was "producer" in the band Tangerine Dream. After he left TD, I lost track of him. His training is classical, as in classical piano. Not surprising his work when he was with TD, lead into that style.
It was not after we put our CD out that someone noted me to check his work out, style wise. Many have a hard time, including myself, in labeling what we do.
If you peek at the link reference above, see his bio. Again, you can see, it's the networking that leads to getting noticed. You can have the talent, the skill and the genius but it's the "who you know" that lands the work. (or have a excellent agent)

In our books, if you peek at the liner notes on the cd "Space Elevator" you can see our influences as we acknowledge them. Hans is not listed there. I do not think what we do is in his range of works I listen too at all. All good stuff but not something I think of as a influence. I know I heard the soundtacks to the movies but they did not melt any butter much here. However, his technical making them work, that is worth a note and follow. Now, if you was pointing out Chris Franke, I would have to say his work apart from Tangerine Dream is also among something I notice.

Larry Fast, JM Jarre, Tangerine Dream and so on listed, yea, something that does come to mind when I am working out a track.
BTW, each person in our liner notes, has a copy of our CD, I handed Larry Fast a copy last Sunday. JM Jarre is the only exception and by year's end, that should be a done deal.

I would consider Hans Zimmer (best known for writing the soundtrack to Gladiator and Dark Knight) as H/M Composer. He was originally on the forefront of mixing classical instruments with electronic counterparts, many have gotten onboard since then. Someone I wouldn't necessarily consider an H/M Composer is John Williams (Star Wars, Indiana Jones) even though I'm sure he has used some technology aids in his more recent scores. He is more of a purist in that sense, and it is much more difficult to write that way.

I would say most of your stuff is definitely in the hybrid category. If your experimenting with sound it's all hybrid!

OK, Symphonic Electronia
"This style grows out of the tradition of classical orchestral music and features synthesized orchestration. It often features melodies and harmonies that are neo-romantic in style.

The best orchestral electronica uses electronics as an important element in a wider palette of instruments, to create new types of orchestration that would be impossible using traditional instruments. It takes the ideas of traditional orchestration and expands them, using the new capabilities that electronic instruments and studio treatments offer.

Some of the composers that work in this style are Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, and Mychael Danna. Vangelis is the most prominent composer using this approach. His soundtracks to Blade Runner and 1492: Conquest of Paradise are good examples of the style. On both of these soundtracks, Vangelis uses traditional orchestral instruments and voices, but he dramatically expands the orchestral range through the use of synthesizers and electronic processing."

that would be our first album and many things in the double I am working on. So I guess this would fit us. ;-)

Jim? good place?

If it is a piece that blends genres,non-conventionally grouped instruments, or different types of tonality, I would consider it a Hy brid. Hybrid simply means it is a mixture. Most modern composers are hybrid because they use some classical orchestration mixed with synthesized sound and mix up the genres. I'm sure that's not the technical definition but that's my take on it.

I am not sure what a hybrid modern style is, anyone peek at anything I have done to know if that fits here?
