A top ten list is a stupid thing to do when it comes to my favorite music, it changes everyday. Here is my top ten list for today:
in no order :

1) Miles: filles de kilimanjaro
2) Pat Metheny Group: Imaginary Day
3) Genesis: Trick of the Tail (for Los Endos alone - phil is an amazing drummer).
4) Jim Hall & Pat Metheny: Self Titled Live & studio album
5) Jaco Pastorius - self Titled First album
6)Earth, Wind & Fire - That's the way of the world
7) King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black
8)Grover Washington Jr. - All my tomorrows (shunned by 'jazz snobs' but totally outstanding).
9) Native Dancer - Wayne Shorter
10) Prince - Sign o' the times

Definitely agree with you on Jaco's first solo album and the Miles album. I would add:
Pat Metheny's first solo album "Bright Size Life"
Weather Report's "Heavy Weather"
Miles Davis "Bitches Brew"
Wayne Shorter "Speak No Evil"
John Coltrane"Interstellar Space"
The Beatles - from "Revolver" on really but if I had to pick one... then "The White Album"
Rush- hard to pick just one but probably "Permanent Waves"
The Doors- their first and last album "L.A.Woman"

Great to see a Steve Hackett collection in there. My favourite tune would have to be 'Horizons' from Foxtrot (Genesis) and I adore the 'Please Don't Touch' album...'a missing floorboard!' bring it all back. Great memories.
